The source of this material is not known. The letters were originally added to the archives' correspondence collection (ref. CBB/F19) but recatalogued as a single collection in 2006.Content and structure
Scope and Content
Letters received by Marjorie Brierley from psychoanalytic colleagues, regarding personal and professional matters. The authors are as follows:
Anna Freud (two items, sending thanks and greetings); Harry Guntrip (three items, discussing publication matters); Melanie Klein (two items, one a letter of thanks and the other commenting on Brierley's review of Klein's book, Contributions to Psycho-Analysis); Sylvia Payne (three items, discussing personal and psychoanalytic matters, including the work of Melanie Klein and Wilfred Bion); Hannah Ries (one item, letter of thanks); Adrian Stokes (one item, thanking Brierley for her contribution to the formation of the Imago Group).
Also included is a typed manuscript by Masud Khan, entitled 'Strength from Vulnerability. An appreciation of Dr Guntrip's "Schizoid Phenomena, Object Relations and the Self"', which was sent to Brierley by the author.
