Students from Abroad

Since it was founded in 1924, the Institute of Psychoanalysis has welcomed and trained students from abroad. Institute graduates currently practice in: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Peru, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United States of America, and Venezuela. Recently, students from Japan and Russia have begun the training.

The application procedure and training for students from abroad is exactly the same as for British citizens. While it is ultimately the student’s responsibility to satisfy the British Immigration authorities’ requirements, the Institute of Psychoanalysis is committed to helping overseas candidates study psychoanalysis in the United Kingdom.
