2000 Leo
(director, script, producer)
Leo is the story of a young whistle blower, played by Iciar Bollaín, who
as well as being a fine actress, is one of the brightest young women
directors working in Spain today. The story is partly concerned with the
exploitation of illegal immigrants from Eastern Europe, and partly about
the effects of a quasi-incestuous relationship between Leo and a much
older man, her mother’s lover.
This year the film was awarded the ‘Goya’ (Spain’s equivalent of the
Oscar) for the category of best film.
