THE BRITISH PSYCHOANALYTICAL SOCIETY

ANNUAL RESEARCH LECTURE 2010

'Varieties of psychoanalytical research'

Michael Rustin

Date: Wednesday 17th March 2010

Venue: Institute of Psychoanalysis, 112a Shirland Road, London W9 2EQ

Time: 8.00pm

Psychoanalytic research is a challenging and controversial topic. At times, it has been associated with other areas of research, such as psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapy or infant observation and their possible contributions to psychoanalysis. Relatively less has been investigated about psychoanalysis itself, whether it can be researched or proven ‘effective’ and which methodology to use. The Annual Research Lecture is an opportunity to consider the different ways of researching psychoanalysis as well as to discuss current and developing projects in this area.
